DLP Shield

Help protect sensitive data being shared when using your favourite AI tools

DLP Shield checks prompts and attachments locally before they are uploaded to ChatGPT or Claude, giving your organisation practical protection without enterprise complexity. The Chrome extension works on Windows PCs and Macs.

A paid DLP Shield licence is required to activate and use the extension. An organisation owner can create an account, buy licences and assign them to users through the customer portal.

Frequently asked questions

Questions about DLP Shield.

Everything you need to understand the protection, supported files and subscription.

Which platforms does DLP Shield support?

The live DLP Shield Chrome extension supports Windows PCs and Macs. Native macOS and Safari versions are in development and are not yet available. Organisation policies are managed centrally and applied across supported Chrome installations.

Which document types can DLP Shield inspect?

The Chrome extension can inspect PDF, Word (.docx), Excel (.xlsx) and PowerPoint (.pptx) documents; text-based files including TXT, CSV, JSON, Markdown, RTF, XML and HTML; and common images including PNG, JPG, JPEG, WebP, BMP and GIF. Image text is read using local OCR. Files can be up to 25 MB.

How does the subscription work?

DLP Shield costs £3 per named user each month. Each user can protect up to two physical devices using Google Chrome on Windows PCs or Macs. There is no long-term commitment, and centralised management is included.

What is DLP?

DLP stands for data loss prevention. It is a set of controls that identifies sensitive information and helps stop it being shared with people, services or systems that should not receive it.

Why would my business need DLP?

People can accidentally paste customer details, financial information, credentials or confidential content into an AI tool. DLP Shield checks prompts and attachments before they are shared, then warns, blocks or redacts information according to your organisation’s rules.

Why isn’t this protection simply part of ChatGPT or Claude?

AI platforms provide their own security and privacy controls, but they do not replace an organisation’s DLP policy. Your business needs to decide which information its people may share, apply those rules consistently across different AI services, and manage protection centrally. DLP Shield provides that organisation-controlled layer before information reaches the AI platform.

How do you secure my data?

DLP Shield scans prompts and supported attachments locally on the user’s device, so the content and sensitive values being inspected are not sent to or stored by Compliance Tools. Account, licensing and policy communications are protected in transit, and stored service data is encrypted at rest. Read the DLP Shield security statement for more information.
